I was reading a case study by a vendor (I leave out any reference): "customer estimates that it can deploy new users 90 percent faster than before. Now, it takes only 1 hour for the virtual desktop to be ready for the user, compared to days with the previous on-premises VDI solution. I mean, not really a very trustworthy customer testimonial, right? no matter how crap your VDI on-premises solution is, it won't take days to deploy a pool.. and no new solution would solve that to 1 hour if your process is the same... I had to laugh when I read this one, a good consultant with some mandate would have also gotten this to 70% faster for sure.

So you are saying marketing doesn't always reveal the full story. Now I'm gonna have to rethink a lot of things 🙂

they are just a bit off 😉

If you map out your user personas correctly, and size your pools for expected growth, it should be automatic by putting the new user into the correct user groups in AD when their AD account is created. :)

This can be an accurate statement when you consider on-premises hardware lead times. They use the term "provisioning" very loosely here, but I've worked at 2 different organizations where it would take 8-12 months to add additional onprem infrastructure. While the cloud is definitely faster, I've also learned that isnt immune to the "it'll be a few weeks before we have any capacity" issues as well.
