is it still advisable to use separate container for profiles and office data? or has everyone been just using the profile container. I always kept them separate, but not sure if that is really being done anymore. i can't find what MS recommends anymore. i saw one link where it said to use one profile container for both profile and office data..just wondering what everyone else thinks..thx

Only use separate if a) you want to be able to reset Office caches quickly and easily or b) you want to keep the caches on different storage tiers or c) you're replicating them and you don't want to bother replicating the caches

In line with James, excluding from backup.

+1 on what James said! 🙂

Not sure I’ve seen it in writing but I know Microsoft recommends combining them as it reduces overall IO especially if you use cloud cache. FYI NEVER use cloud cache. So yeah separate if going across different storage systems but if on the same then it actually creates more IO

If you are using FSLogix, 1 container for profiles and office. If using another profile solution, then FSLogix for office. If using UPM use file based for the profile, and containerize the folders needed containered. If using mandatory, you don't have to worry about any of that. 😉
