Is there a way to limit users to one Desktop session at a time? We have users with access to multiple desktop delivery groups and several of them launch multiple desktops which causes issues with profiles\mapped drives, etc.. is there a way to limit them to a single delivery group at a time??

I would put all the machines into the same Delivery Group. Or create dedicated profiles for each Delivery Group.

unfortunately, its more than just profiles. They run applications directly off of a network drive, and of course, running that same app twice using the same application side profiles and accessing the same shared drives multiple times, causes issues. The DG's are separate because they have different resource allocations. Users are trying to launch multiple desktops thinking they can get more done, but it really just breaks stuff. We have tried educating them, which has lessened the issue, but we still see it

Yeah, that probably isn't going to work. You may need to do some type of lock file creation and cleanup, or a query do your brokers to see if they have a session and force a log off. But it will never work as well as just locking users to the single resource to do their job.

I agree completely. These users are offshore, and we have worked on trying to limit the people with access to both, but that has been a battle

are you redirecting appdata or something? Usually sep profiles per DG fixes these things, unless the app itself is throwing lock files on the shared mapped drive, which would prevent more than 1 user accessing it anyway.

To simplify it as much as possible, the users are basically running applications directly from a mapped drive that then reaches back to a dept shared drive for files to process. Those files are then processed and moved to another share. The app team has told us, and shown us that the application doesn't support the same user having multiple sessions with the way they have their side configured. Honestly, even if it did "work" from our side, they do not want them running multiple sessions from a work standpoint.. so, yea good times

yeah, tell them they get 1 desktop and they're going to like it... 😉 Separate username to get a 2nd desktop, but they need to pay for it.

make a script that detects already running sessions and logs the old one off when they "double-launch". That'll probably behaviour-correct pretty fast.

And before you close the session out say "nah uh uh you didn't use the magic words"
