Happy friday everyone! How do you guys manage the recycle bin with FSLogix profiles? A customer with over thousand users is having FSLogix profile disk bloating and after some initial information gathering and trying to understand how they have configured this I start seeing things like their recycle bin is roaming. This means, whenever a user is deleting files, the disk is not compacting upon logoff since the recycle bin contains files. As soon as I remove the files from the recycle bin for a user and logoff then the disk compacts properly and shows correct value. How do you guys tackle this? I tried to disable the roaming on the recycle bin through the FSLogix GPOs but I notice weird behaviors. For example, users that already have items in their recycle bin can't see the items but the space is not freed up either, once I turn on recycle bin GPO then the items appear in the recycle bin again. Another thing I noticed after disabling the recycle bin roaming is that when I remove files as a user, they still get moved to the recycle bin in the session and start taking space locally on the VDAs which means 20 users deleting 5GB each would take up 100GB on the C partition locally on the server and crash the server. Not specifically for fxlogix but I got away with enabling the windows based NukeOnDelete reg key (e.g. the less fun named "Do not move deleted files to the Recycle Bin" GPO setting) so that the Recycle bin doesn't get hit at all.
