Has anyone moved their Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops Site, Monitoring, and Logging databases from SQL 2019 to SQL 2025? Environment is CVAD 2507 LTSR, and SQL 2025 is listed as supported. I’m assuming the migration should be straightforward, but I’d like to hear real‑world experiences. - Any issues during/after the move - Anything to watch out for (permissions, schema, connection strings, etc.) - Any Citrix‑specific quirks when repointing the site I found this post about moving from SQL 2019 → 2022, which seems similar: https://www.deyda.net/index.php/en/2025/10/09/migration-of-citrix-databases/ Anyone done SQL 2019 → 2025 yet? Curious what your experience has been.

I went to 2022 on my latest migrations, not 2025. In the process put it behind a CNAME so the next migration doesn't have to change anything on the broker config side.

Is it SQL Always on?
j
No, for AOG, the AOG Listener is already a layer of abstraction
n
gotcha, so if it failsover you restore it on another SQL and change the cname...interesting

We also have #CK6TCV3JN, among other Citrix focused channels…
n
oops..i should have posted it on #CK6TCV3JN ...hopefully they will see it now..thx

We migrated from SQL Server 2016 to 2022 (AOG) last month for CVAD, session recording and WEM. The process was straightforward: backup, restore, and listener recreation. Only WEM could be tricky (master key encryption, sql user)

Yeah, this takes into consideration the CU releases, and it's not supported there either: https://support.citrix.com/external/article/CTX114501/supported-databases-for-virtual-apps-and.html

the OS is 2025, the db will be sql 2022

OK great your initial post mentioned SQL 2025. Anyhow this is supported.
