just upgrading my ServerOSVDA on master image from 2402 to 2507 via GUI and it has thrown on the WEM agent / Uberagent / Device Trust agent even tho there wasnt any options to include/exclude these during the VDA upgrade screens !!!!. Anyone got the command line switches handy to exlude these components bit annoying it doesnt give you the option via the GUI
n
Not sure it's possible to remove them after the fact, but this is why we use the VDAServerSetup and VDAWorkstationSetup standalone installers. Here are the options for the /exclude switch: https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-virtual-apps-desktops/2507-ltsr/install-configure/install-core/install-command#command-line-o[…]nstalling-a-vda
FYI, though, things like uberAgent allow for additional monitoring options in Monitor (licensing status, etc.).

yeah i use the VDAServerSetup.exe with command line switches all the time. As its just a simple upgrade on the master image i ran the upgrade through the gui i didnt expect it to throw all those agents on as they wasnt present in the GUI options for additional features . I dont have WEM as i use ivanti EM so dont need WEM agent / I dont have splunk so dont use Uberagent / Not tested or used Device Trust
n
I dunno why they don't include the ability to deselect those features. Been like that for a while, and whoever designed the GUI installer deserves a smack in the back of the head for this.

yeah its bloody annoying especially when just upgrading the VDA. I suppose i will now have to figure out all the command line switches that was specified during the initial VDA install even tho i am just upgrading as they will need to be included in the new command line setup if i want to exclude the wem agent / device trust / uberagent
not sure if i just run VDAserversetup with the /exclude options for WEM/Uberagent /Device trust agent it will retain my existing settings such as controllers ect

Our install string:
VDAServerSetup_2507_CU1.exe /quiet /enable_remote_assistance /disableexperiencemetrics /virtualmachine /enable_hdx_ports /enable_hdx_udp_ports /enable_real_time_transport /components VDA /masterpvsimage /includeadditional "Citrix Profile Management","Citrix Profile Management WMI Plug-in" /exclude "Citrix Telemetry Service","Citrix Personalization for App-V - VDA","Citrix Universal Print Client","Citrix Workspace Environment Management Agent" /logpath "C:\RootFolder\VDAServerSetup_2507_CU"
We set DDCs via GPO, so by not listing it in the install string, you're basically selecting the 'Do it later (advanced)" option in the GUI.
The one thing to keep in mind is that the components change over time. Citrix will remove some of them, and if you leave them in your install string, the install will fail. They have also renamed components in the past (looking at you, CPM).

cheers looks pretty similar to what we got configured component wise. I will compare my current install string and use your command line string with /controllers and add a few exclude items for other gunk i dont want on there. I used to use the VDA command line helper tool which was good but seems like everything they stopped developing it
CWA is same had to exclude loads of gunk from that secure access client and Browser plugin
n
Another ridiculous decision by them. That command line helper tool was fantastic.

As a test I went with VDAServersetup_2507_cu1.exe /exclude "uberAgent","Citrix Workspace Environment Management Agent","Citrix deviceTRUST" as this customer hasnt got there previous VDA command line install params documented anywhere and i coudnt find a old VDA Xendesktop installer log so i would be semi guessing tbh with new command line params (Change /modify on the VDA install via appwiz gives u small clue). After running those command line switches It brought up the normal gui options screens and after going through that the VDA upgrade seems like it gone through ok and its left the previous config intact (UPM still installed / controllers still specified ect) and not put those extra unneeded features on
