Anyone have a way to re-install Microsoft photo app. it was removed on the master image and now 1000 of VDI are missing it. The environment does not have intune so i am trying to script it. i tried a few script but nothing is working..

You'll need to grab the appx bundle off the Inbox apps ISO, and then use powershell and Add-AppXprovisionedpackage command to add it as a provisioned appx package. Then you'll need to update it, and should be good to go.

Hi Stephe, thanks. i tried that earlier today but its failing.
j
Try: # Run in elevated PowerShell Add-AppxProvisionedPackage -Online -PackagePath "C:\Path\To\Microsoft.Photos.appxbundle" -SkipLicense
n
i got errors when trying to install through DISM. it didn't work b/c the packages are no longer on the Windows 11 ISO.

There is always the Microsoft Store: Microsoft Photos - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store The Users can manually install while you find a solution.
n
Unfortunately, we'll have to do like that for now.

John's suggestion was Powershell, not DISM.
n
I tried John's suggestion to but got error messages that i could not resolve. it can't be re-installed through the Add-Appxprovisioned command if it was removed by Citrix Optimizer. it looks like the only way of doing it is allowing it through the store or intune.

Can you provide the error? I troubleshoot this exact process on a regular basis.
n
really? let me see if i can find it. it might be in one of my AI chats. can you provide me a sample script?

if you are still running into issues trying to add it. Check and see if it exists with get-appxpackage -all photos If its there remove it with -allusers. Then do the add Appx Provisioned packaged
