We would appreciate expert opinions! We are using FSLogix in a persistent environment. Some PCs have numerous directories starting with “local_” remaining in C:\Users. C:\ProgramData\FSLogix\Cache is in the same situation. For example, would it be acceptable to force delete these using a shutdown script?

They get deleted automatically on logoff
If they don't, something is hooked into them which shouldn't be. Check your AV exclusions. If needs be, fire up Process Explorer on an affected machine and check for a handle locked to the path.
(Of course, there is an FSLogix policy called "Keep local directory after logoff" which would make these persist - if you have this defined, because it serves no real purpose, turn it off)

I find it's not perfect, and I use a startup script to delete them all after the system reboots.

Thanks for the comment. That policy isn't configured, and AV exclusion settings are already in place (using MDE). I'm relieved to hear about cases where it's being deleted via startup scripts. I'll try troubleshooting the cause with Procexp and see if I can handle it with a script.

I also get local_ dirs left behind quite often. Can only clean them up after a reboot. I haven't looked at process explorer to see what is keeping them locked though.
Usually when I try to delete them before a reboot, it says something about the Credentials folder within being unable to be deleted.
