Question - we're in the process of migrating our files/shares to Sharepoint, and today we enabled the "Configure team site libraries to sync automatically" GPO. Today we're seeing a lot of slowness, and i can see that Microsoft advises against enabling this if you have more than 5k files, and we've got quite a lot more files than that. But we need the GPO for the sharepoint library to automatically appear for users. Is there any other way we are supposed to do this...? we need this to work, but i also don't want the sync process to cause the problems we're seeing today.

👀 Curious of the solution as we are considering moving away from traditional file shares.

We had to disable this and now we might have to consider Cloud drive mapper. OneDrive works terribly bad if you’ve got a lot of files in Sharepoint it looks like :(

Seems like they have lower the amount, it was like 1million file I think the first time I enabled it for a small customer. It was some issue that Onedrive was using a lot of cpu, but that was fixed in later version of Onedrive, dont think they had so much issues after that. How many devices do you have? I think the best practise is to split Sharepoint out to many many smaller sites, so do not move a whole "S:\" Shared drive with 5000 users that have each department folder.

We've got about 140 devices (terminal servers). But way too many files... closer to 400k, to be exact. With this setting enabled, our whole environment pretty much became unusable due to how much resources the sync consumed, despite having files on-demand
