AOL was a big sore spot/point of envy for me as a teenager. We the sole Amiga household on the block, so among the larger proprietary online services, CompuServe was our only option. After school, when everyone said "see you in XYZ AOL chatroom!", I'd always be left out 🙃 Fortunately, we did have one 8 line chat BBS down here in San Diego in the early-mid 90's that my friends and I called home.

nice, yeah I was an Aol instant messenger kid and IRC for my counter-strike scrims 😉

Does anyone remember Trillion?

technically still around: https://trillian.im/ although it doesnt look like it supports ICQ and MSN Messenger anymore, which is what used it for ... sometimes for actually providing IIS/Site Server support @microsoft because even then some people didn't want to sit on the phone..
