Does anyone here use only a smartphone + peripherals (monitor, keyboard, mouse) to access a VDI? 🤔📱💻

I think that fad died a couple of years ago

Citrix Nirvana Phone vibes, at this hour?
j
I can't imagine a world where losing, forgetting or breaking your phone would render you unable to work. It's bad enough that we have MFA stored all over the damned things
s
Even if it worked as well as imagined for Citrix, as a phone you'd never want to use it compared to other setups.

Saw Samsung Dex in action with Citrix, "ok experience" I'd say.
s
It's a great option....in a pinch. But no.

i've done it with an iphone / ipad if i am really desperate for an emergency when away from the laptop

I’m looking for information from people who have used a phone as their primary tool instead of a laptop/thin client for accessing Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). What challenges did you face? What’s missing, what doesn’t work well, etc.?
j
The main challenge you will face is that it's simply not popular and therefore not mature. Citrix concentrate development and fix effort onto connecting devices that they see a lot of, for obvious reasons. Phones just aren't it. Never have been, and probably never will be. IMHO, YMMV, etc.

Any similar solution for AVD ?
j
Suppose you could install the RD Client on a phone easy enough and maybe hook up some peripherals, never tried

I use it daily. DeX connecting to AVD. All I need works

Challenge for us is the missing support of Zoom VDI and Jabber JVDI. So there is no optimziation (Omnissa Horizon).
