I know this used to work, but I can't see to find it now. We need to connect to back-end services via a LB with the FQDN of the service, not via IP. We setup the server and services with the fqdn, but it always reverts to IP address for the connectivity. We did a rewrite policy to replace the hostname, but it still tries to send via IP. Anyone have a good writeup on doing this type of connectivity?
Some additional info on this with my testing. The previous methods still work fine for host headers in IIS. But doesn't work with Azure CDN Website Containers.

Backend on SSL? Create a SSL profile and set the common name. Not 100% sure, maybe you can also do it on a http profile, though a rewrite should work as well. Make sure the remove any header that triggers compression, and make sure you hit the policy!

Found the issue. You need to use a backend SSL profile that includes the hostname for the connection to get around the CDN.
