Yeah, what a surprise for me too, I definitely didn’t expect it myself. After ILKI was acquired (the small French consulting company I was working for in Paris) and I needed to figure out my next role, I reached out to Shawn to ask for his opinion on a different company. But we got to talking about how he was liking Citrix, which led to conversations with other people there about what they’re working on and building, and it really aligns with what I want to do also. Totally was not on my 2025 bingo card either!

What's your role going to be Brian?

Priority #1: Bring back the XenDesktop name, and call everyone against it a coward until they fold.

There are two main parts to my role. One is as a storyteller, figuring out how we talk about our technology vision, which we share with internal folks, customers, the market, the community, etc. (So I don’t create the tech strategy and roadmaps, that’s something that Shawn & the product folks do. I’m more about taking that and creating the narrative and how we tell that story.) Second is as a futurist, looking at where the market is going, what the future of work looks like, etc., and then helping everyone internally understand that so they can build the right strategy for it. From the outside it will be similar to things I’ve done in the past. I’ll be giving talks about the future, meeting with customers and partners, acting as a bridge between the product folks and marketing, etc., but unlike past roles, in addition to helping the market understand where we’re is going, I’m equally focused on helping us understand where the market is going. It’s an amazing role which I’m super excited about!
