Under which circumstances are 8k monitors possible? I don't find any relevant info in the citrix docs, only this blogpost about H265 and AV1. https://www.citrix.com/blogs/2023/09/20/whats-new-with-citrix-cvad-2308-and-cloud-updates/ This would mean, a customer setup with the new LTSR has to be configured: • CWA 2402 LTSR and newer • CVAD 2402 LTSR and newer • GPU Policy (or default) with "For Actively Changing Regions” and “For the Entire Screen” • Hardware decoding (enabled by default) • H.265 video encoding (seems to be enabled by default)

What is the use case for 8K displays?
b
Director at this specific customer got a new 8k monitor 🙂
It's more a "I want to use it" topic
r
Right sizing is important with 4K and higher..
b
Yep, It's a CAD Company with the following setup: XenServer 8, A40 GPU Client has a NVDIA GPU too but need to get the correct model.
r
Which vGPU profile are they using?
b
I'll know next exactly next week, customer said something about 4Q. According to my Onenote this should be Available Pixels 58982400 Display Resolution 7680×4320: max 1 Display 5120×2880 or lower: max 4 Displays
r
OK, I would test it. 4Q might be on the low side, remember that 8K = 4x 4K. Check the GPU Memory consumption when using apps on the 8K display and scale GPU profile accordingly
b
Thank you very much!. This means the only limiting factor is the GPU on the VDA? I can assume then that almost all of our customer setups can (but don't have to) support 8k. No one is using the M-Series anymore.
r
No, I would definitely not say that is the only limiting factor. In general, using higher resolutions: • Higher bandwidth consumption • Higher resource utilization on VDA & Client
b
Cool, will add this to my list.
Glad for your help!
