Anyone have experience with mixed license models in Citrix DaaS? I appears to me Citrix has stopped offering User/Device licenses sometime recently. Has anyone been in a situation where you're between renewals and need additional licenses? How are you mixing existing user/device licenses with concurrent licenses? From what I can tell, the Citrix DaaS tenant can only be assigned one or the other, but an admin has the ability to assign a different license model to a delivery group. As you might imagine, this can create a large headache when delivery groups are not divided in a way that it makes sense to apply one license or another.

Citrix is not offering any UD or CC licenses anymore. Only Named.

Thanks for the link! I read through it and unfortunately it didn't answer my question. My situation is I have 3000 User/Device DaaS licenses that date back prior to HMC. They will not be up for renewal until the end of the year. 200 additional licenses were just acquired. Because DaaS licensing is dead, they were purchased as the most equivalent model, which is UHC. So now I have a mix of 3000 DaaS user/device licenses and 200 HMC "concurrent" licenses. Citrix DaaS only allows you to assign either user/device or concurrent for the tenant license. Dennis does mention this and I wonder if Citrix is even enforcing license counts. They have to be, right??
Please note that although the license assignment may be set to an incorrect edition or model, users will still be able to launch sessions.

you can trade them in and convert all your licenses to HMC. And yes, they're enforcing license counts.

I talked to my Citrix account team. The advice I was given was to leave my user/device licensing in place. Citrix would not prevent users from logging in if I was to go over the limit. They would only prevent users from logging in if we lapsed in renewal. When the renewal happens later this year, all licenses will be migrated to UHMC and I will need to switch to concurrent. This doesn't give me warm and fuzzies, but time will tell I suppose.

I've had customers go significantly over their allocated licenses in DaaS (named user/device) and they haven't had an issue, in one case over an extended period. \

Same as this, have experience of customers temporarily going way over the limit without any issue. I am assuming if they were to do this over a prolonged period it would get flagged somewhere...or not.

We renewed our licenses recently and also added some more, however, all renewed licenses are UHMC which from I gathered are concurrent. Historically, Concurrent was more expensive than user/device so we opted for the latter. Now that we are forced to concurrent, we will not be using as many licenses as before as licenses is only held for the day before it is returned to the pool.. Is this understanding correct? If yes, it means we don’t need as many licenses as before as our concurrent sessions per day will be less than what we consumed under user/device model

I think you are correct. My Citrix technical contact suggested I may require less licenses after all user/device licenses convert to UHMC Concurrent. The trouble is that is difficult to do unless I have CSP licensing, to which I do not.

wonder what is the rationale behind this? indirect discount so customers can buy less licenses? What am i missing here?
