Hi, i use the NetScaler Console Service with Flexed /Pooled Licensing. The onboarding to the console of the HA pair works without any problems. We used the Built-in Agent. When we assign the license it only works on the primary. The secondary then goes back into grace period and the status of the license server is disconnected. If I do a failover, it reconnects and the other switches to Grace status. Firmware is 14.1 38.53. Is this a known issue? I follow this one https://www.ferroquesystems.com/resource/using-the-built-in-agent-to-license-netscalers-using-flexed-licensing/

Hi Christian I asked one of our NetScaler architects and he said you should be using an external NetScaler Console agent rather than the built-in agent when using the NetScaler console service.
c
Hi Rob, this is exactly what I would like to avoid, as the customer does not want to run x instances for NetScaler. I know that it works with the agent.

Doesn't sound like they have a choice

@Christian Jöns using the builtin agent worked for me and I was able to license both vpx instances. Can give you the exact build on monday.

@Balint Oberrauch that would be great. And they stay licensed no matter who is primary and secondary?
b
Yes. Using vs 14.xxxx

Could it be that it’s a network issue. Check the TCPdump on the one that’s active and working?
The SNIPs are held by the active node, so the traffic could reach the Cloud service from the active node only due to this? If the management interface is not able to connect, I mean.
c
I have already checked this. There are no connection reports from the NSIP.
k
On the secondary?
c
Jep.
@Balint Oberrauch today i get this from Support Hello Christian, "We just consulted with the escalation team, and they confirmed this will not work until we assign an external agent for the license server. Please try with the external agent, which is already available in your environment, and update us on the license status for both devices."
