Lots of discussion on Omnissa/Horizon and Citrix in here - I would love to get folks thoughts on Leostream and Parallels
j
Parallels works really well in my opinion. Sales are pretty pushy, and they need to market more. They could have been eating up the market with the Citrix and Horizon stuff, but kind of just sat back. Haven't used LeoStream before. The biggest problem, and why people aren't leaving Citrix is the performance over low bandwidth. RDP doesn't perform well when going overseas to remote work force as well as HDX.

Parallels isn't bad at all. It works. Basic and easy...

Interesting on Leostream - their whole claim to fame is around supporting something like 15 different protocols
Agree on Parallels. I have to wonder if the lack of marketing is being driven by KKR owning both Horizon and Parallels
n
With my luck, I'd migrate to RAS and KKR would kill it off and tell everyone to switch to Horizon for a 10x price increase....

LMFAOOOOOO
there is truth there

And for anyone interested, if Xentgra is your partner, get pricing from VC3. I went from $15k to about $7k for the exact same thing

Technically closer to 10 display protocols, @Alan Conboy. 😉 But, yes, Leostream has display protocol options for high-performance graphics. We're seeing newer players, such as Amazon DCV and Mechdyne TGX, coming into conversations, post HP-acquisition of Teradici/PCoIP.

LeoStream is a blast from the past for me. I've not looked at Parallels in some time. I wonder what kind of product improvements have taken place with both companies.
k
Your past is my present, @Tim Cremer! Feel free to reach out to me directly if you want a Leostream update! A lot has happened since 2011 (which looks like when we last spoke!)

Oh my gosh Karen that was a long time ago ahhahaha

If anyone needs answers about Parallels just shout. My company was the one 2X acquired and I then spent 5 years at Parallels as the technical adviser to the CEO

Happy to chat Parallels too [DISCLAIMER: I work there 😊]. Recently, perhaps unsurprisingly, Parallels RAS has seen massive growth and with it a big old bunch of features. Also launched in 2024: a cloud-only DaaS service and secure browsing with Parallels Browser Isolation - all delivering on specific use cases around choice. As for RDP protocol. It’s in use to deliver both AVD and W365. Don’t think this is a protocol standing still 😉

@Alan Conboy We, Parallels and Omnissa, are competitors under the same investor and that's all there is to it.

@Rob Beekmans fair point and good to know - as an outsider, all I have available to me is the optics of ownership
