What does everyone think of the concept of Enterprise Browser Management....... 🤔

Concept is great; so much work can be done in just the browser these days, so it’s an ideal place to be looking at. However, I think customers should perhaps first concentrate on reducing the number of browsers in their environment and then look at the tools they’re already licensed for. Multiple browsers increases your patch footprint, so reducing corporate devices to a single browser will help reduce complexity. For M365 customers that’s obviously Edge and Google Workspace it’s Chrome, of course. Depending on what you’re already licensed for, you may have access to the Citrix Enterprise Browser or Microsoft Edge + Defender for Cloud Apps (more complex solution, but it can be configured to protect corporate apps). After that, then perhaps look at dedicated enterprise browsers such as Island.

..and perhaps look at the application landscape and not try to grow that every year. The concept is interesting but as only about 8-10% of companies are SaaS-only, the need for multiple solution still stands and will for a long time. we all retire with legacy Windows apps still up and running.

We have Island Browser for a limited use case but will be switching Zscaler since it has ZTNA for sites that are internal facing only and Island wants to charge extra for that. Management forced us to use Island because some people complained about connectivity issues with VDI. It’s just one more entry point into our environment and another thing to manage that we dont really need so I would be happy to not use it at all.
