Trying to find some clarity regarding the System Optimization | Memory Management settings. The Citrix documentation doesn't make sense regarding the description of the idle sample time (min) and what it's named. From Citrix "*Idle sample time*. Lets you specify the length of time that a process is considered idle after which it is forced to release excess memory." George Spiers has a write-up with his explanation making more sense where it monitors the apps for X minutes (idle sample time) to calculate what the memory usage is and the least amount to ensure stability. Does anyone know the truth as to how this works? I know James Kindon says don't use Memory Management and references LoginVSI testing conducted by Nutanix showing potential issues caused with it enabled.

Idle Sample Time (min). Lets you specify the length of time that a process is considered idle after which it is forced to release excess memory. During this time, WEM calculates how much memory a process is using and the minimum amount of memory a process needs without losing stability. The default value is 120 minutes.
this is the description in the WEM document.
when one process is considered idle for Idle Sample Time, the WEM will calculate the memory and release the memory for that process.
actually, the WEM will monitor the system and check whether the processes are idle according to the configuration every five minutes. And the process keeps idle for Idle Sample Time duration, it will be optimized.
