Hey All, I have been trying to reduce the logon duration for one of the customer but unfortunately I didn't get the desired result . I am ending up with Appx-Load packages which is taking 40+ seconds to load till then getting stuck at black screen. I have reduced the user based built-in applications but still it's taking time. I have tried disabling the App Readiness and AppxSVC service which eventually messing up with Start menu and taskbar functionality. Below is the snippet of user based vs system based application built in applications present AND control up segregation. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks! OS - Windows 11 23H2

Don't disable App Readiness, you will break Windows Update

I reverted the settings
Can we reduce the system built in applications? without hampering windows functionality?

You can remove them, but they just have a tendency to come back at next update
You can try this to remove as many packages as possible for new users Get-AppxProvisionedPackage -online | Out-GridView -PassThru | Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage -online (you will have to select the packages you want to remove in the output view)

yeah, it is a balancing act for sure. Some I have to always keep but I try to limit the bloat by reducing a bunch of them that are useless in most scenarios. But in the end, just no way around having some of them in my scenarios and that initial load/update time for those. Is what it is pretty much. You just do what you can to streamline them down to hopefully the smaller essential ones only

Thanks @James Rankin @Oz Zy Let me try suggestions.

Is it at every login? Or just on first login. If these are Single Session machines, and you are using UPM you could use the AppX containering function. That will share the AppX packages between users and is far faster to populate once they are in the store.

Hello @Jeff Riechers - It's for every logon with single user session (pooled VDIs). Indeed we are using UPM from WEM , how can I use appx containing function from WEM?
