My wife had AOL when I met her. I once had to call support when she changed from dial up to 'broadband'. The supplied CD for her router didn't work with Windows 2000 SP4 which had recently come out. All I wanted was an updated install CD.
Was on the phone for ages while they went through their script asking a load of unrelated questions. When I explained (again) that all I wanted was an updated CD that was compatible with SP4, I was put on hold while the agent went to speak with her manager. Came back and said "Don't worry, our software doesn't need SP4!"
At this point, I gave up. Flattened the PC, installed the AOL software then reinstalled the service pack. Less pain than trying tech support again.
My wife still uses an AOL email address.
