I may be overthinking this but has anyone used the Adobe unified app installer for acrobat/reader? we currently have both installed separately and trying to find how to use the new installer but no idea how to find it. is it just the Acrobat install w/ a reg key or something to set it to run as Reader by default? https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/AdminGuide/singleinstaller.html

I use it - finally a single installer for Pro and DC
basically you surpress the activation for users and they can login with their credentials to get all pro features
a
currently we have reader for everyone and acrobat std for about 3/4 of the company so was hoping this might let me have JUST the one install for patching purposes and those w/ a license can sign in
awesome so its just the standard acrobat installer then and supress login and that would act as "reader"
b
it is the pro installer but acts as standard
a
ok cool sounds good. so just the usual package that i can build from our adobe admin portal then and the supress login and good to go?
b
I usually use the trial version for Acro, the one from the admin portal should work too
a
awesome thanks! what reg key do you use for the suppress sign in? i saw something for disable sign in but that doesn't seem right since you'd want the licensed people to be able to do that

So you @Balint Oberrauch say that for "some users getting reader" and "some users getting pro" on the same image scenario where we used FSLogix app masking back in the days is no longer needed? 👀
a
awesome that all is working great ! thank you all! last question on this.....where do you typically snag the update files from to use whatever your patch tool is (pdq for us)? i've used this but thought i'd see what others do https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html (unless theres a way to have it auto update similar to how chrome/edge/365 do)

Evergreen ;-)

@Markus Zehnle that's correct! You still need Appmasking for masking the Adobe PDF Printer, which works only when having a license. I make that printer only visible for users with a license.

@Eric that article is great, but Adobe documentation got quite clear now so I don't use it anymore.
