Hello. I have a issue where I have a Wacom tablet that is connected to a Citrix desktop session. The issue is that when the user disconnects and then reconnects, the tablet is detected but they cannot draw (it doesn't pick up input). It's a Wacom 540. I've attempted different optimization rules, etc. but nothing. 1912 CU5 is the VDA and the workspace is the newest. I have tried a fresh VDA from scratch with no policies being applied and same behavior.

Wow.....I have one of these tablets but have never tried passing them through to a Citrix session....would be interested to see if can work. Might need some funky USB rules - probably worth opening a support case
b
I currently have a case open with Citrix; the person that attended me is very low level and tried simple steps which I already tried and they failed. What do you mean by USB rules? Those are pretty much applied in Citrix policies and don't do anything. It would be nice if there is a policy or GPO or something they forces the device to always be connected to the VDA even if it cannot get it's status
c
You would have to add the VID of the device to the USB redirection rules
j
What John said. There are custom rules you can apply. We had to faff about with these to get a trader buy/sell keyboard working
b
This is already added
Already added. If you want I can post screenshots
c
Does it come with any Drivers ? have you installed those on the VDA ?
b
Installed on the VDA
j
so the issue is only when the user disconnects, then reconnects?
like it works on initial login but not following?
and are you using generic or optimized redirection? I assume generic at this point based on the policies you have
b
Correct; That is when the issue happens. If the user physically disconnects the tablet and reconnects it, it works fine again
I dont see a way for "forcing" optimized; It always gives me the generic one, where, I suspect that the issue may start to be occurring.

I just experienced something similar with a virtual usb com port
and basically upon reconnection, it incremented the mapping guid, so it broke
dont have a fix for it, but it sounds similar
since its an HID device, it may be worth using the built in redirection using optimized, but you will likely need to modify the devicerules reg key in the VDA
b
Where did you see that it "incremented the mapping guid"? Its just show and tell Citrix and see if they have a solution for the issue
j
so this was specifically for USB COM port redirection using generic usb redirection so I dont think its the same thing
my resolution will be to get the built in com port redirection working, not using the generic channel
b
Correct but I already have that....

Curious, if they unplug it and plug it back in on the disconnect part if it pull in? I have some notes on this, I can send over
I was looking at the docs for the STU-540, one thing I says is to map the com port from the client. I was curious if this was something you had to do? It's older for sure, but might help? https://developer-support.wacom.com/hc/en-us/articles/9354496675479-STU-540-Configuration-for-Citrix-6-5
