how else do you guys manage the drives that host FSLogix or Folder redirection data? Do you run a defrag every few months on the drives?
j
What do you mean by "manage the drives"? • Are you referring to disk compaction or shrinking the disks? • What kind of storage are you using for the FSLogix containers?
n
correct...there are SSDs
j
What does SSD have to do with FSLogix VHD(x) files?
n
what do you mean?
j
I don't understand your question
n
is there any kind of maintenance that need to be done on drives that have FSlogix containers on them. Besides FSlogix disk compaction and purging the one that are not need (former employees) i cant think of anything else....
j
Are you talking about the SMB file server -OR- the VDI Session Hosts -OR- the FSLogix VHD(x) files?
n
i already know about the compact tool, but thanks. i am talking about the SMB file server and FSlogix VHDx files. sorry, if i wasn't clear before.
j
SMB file server doesn't require any maintenance, though your organizational policies for data retention will determine how long you keep FSLogix VHD(x) containers. FSLogix VHD(x) containers are compacted by default during sign out as of 2210 GA (2.9.8361)

Thanks for the feedback. Hope you have a nice weekend.

I also don't do any maintenance on the SMB file server. Except Backups ;-) But sometimes I ask myself, what would be the most elegant way to get rid of old VHDX files, from users that are no longer at the company. (We are an MSP, HR doesn't tell us anything.)

Thank you, I’ll take a look.
