This is an oldie https://jkindon.com/wem-advanced-guidance-part-2-user-interaction/#actions-connections-and-refresh-options I don't think too much has changed from when we wrote that. Your assignment processing will include whatever you decide as far as self-healing goes. If you delete the shortcuts, but don't have self healing enabled on the app - then WEM will track it as applied once, job done, and not do anything else with it (even if you delete it)

Yeah, I understand about the self-healing aspect of an assigned app icon. I use that for most desktop icons, but - the user may have also added files and/or shortcuts on their desktop manually, and these - I do not want to delete. So wondering if there is a way to delete only WEM-assigned icons and leave the others. I’m guessing ā€œNoā€. ?
Or the other scenario is - if I unassign an application, does it clean up (remove) the icons? Or does it just abandon them and not actively replace any going forward?
Basically I’m trying to remove icons for an old version of Office that were previously placed on the desktop by WEM.
Perhaps I need more coffee also ā˜• šŸ˜†

Revert unassigned actions is your friend there - if you remove the app from the user, all traces of what wem did with it are removed - I had the exact same scenario you are facing years ago - identical with a 32 to 64 bit office move

Late reply here @James Kindon but thanks for reminding me again of the ā€œRevert Unassignedā€ actions. For some reason I had forgotten these were there, and they seem to have worked like a champ.

Struggling to see why this thread is flashing at me - did someone tag the wrong James?
