That's a rough one. I'd take the battery out for 24 hours and try again.

can't get into the bios?
Well, not sure if it has a TPM chip
r
nope - i tried using a bluetooth keyboard just in case but as the caps lock is lit i suspect clutching at straws
r
any usb keyboards laying around?

Dang

My Lenovo has a small hole to insert a pin (kinda like the sim removal on your phone). When you insert a pin and power it up it forces it into the UEFI setup/bios.

i do use it essentially as a thin client mostly with everything on cloud thankfully so when i figure out my account details i can access my data from elsewhere
@Landon Winburn yeah lenovo support forums said this and showed a hole next to a R but I can't find one on mine.... their picture showed on back near the slats but nothing similar on mine
l
Probably a newer feature. 😞
r
it does have a dvd drive 😄

you check this one? https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga-and-Twist-Laptops/To-interrupt-normal-startup-press-enter/m-p/5152832?page=1 Looks like your not the only one on reddit with the issue as well. Hopefully you dont have to update the BIOS.

Oh god this is like computer support from 2003 - "First, I removed the original sata 2.5 hard drive, and installed a new sata drive, and installed windows 10 operating system on it. Then, I updated the BIOS driver, which I downloaded from Lenovo's page. finished this, I mounted the original hard drive again and the previous system loaded me, I was then able to install an m.2 solid drive after solving this problem."
s
yeah, not the way i'd want to spend my day

reddit had some other fixes too, think i saw restting CMOS...lol

curious if it does post without a hard drive in it
l
I'd it's bit posting at all. Remove ram, re-seat, remove the hard disk, any WiFi adapters you can easily get to etc.. try it with just barebones and re-add one piece at a time. If the processor has never had the thermal paste renewed you may want to really disassemble and do that. It tends to get flakey after a number of years (not that this will stop it posting)
