Update Edge
n
lol it is updated
a
Maybe it’s attempting to reinstall Edge Update.
I’ve got not ever seen that when Edge isn’t updated. Perhaps all processes need to be restarted
n
all their doing is opening settings
to clear cookies - no where near the update
a
That’s the symptom not the cause. It’s something to do with Edge system wide, and that will typically be Edge or Edge Update isn’t current or installed as expected.
r
Double-check the edge location and see if multiple versions are installed. I have seen this before with Edge and Chrome. Control Panel will only show 1 version, but you need to go into the program files and look.
s
@Nick Pylarinos did you applied disable update policy for Edge through GPO?
c
I get this if I have the edge update services disabled in the image.
n
Edge update services are disabled via policy and on the image itself. I am confirming the amount of versions stacked inside the app folder
No multiples - only the current version
r
Hmmm
n
although
If i delete the MicrosoftEdgUpdate application here ? is this what is being triggered?
r
is the schedule task disabled? not 100% sure your situation. But that should call it, which I think calls that.
n
Good call actually - i need to confirm that!
r
If you really wanted to, I would rename it before I delete it. Temp solution though
s
Do it with registry
g
I think you need to rename the MicrosoftEdgeUpdate.exe to prevent popups. Same with Chrome.
s
Yes
