My teams admin put us on the beta - I got the new teams - version 23257.2616.2423.5046. Can't get it to report HDX connected/optimizaed
optimized even
s
Is there a blog about installing the new teams client or will it be the same as it was with previous version?
m
where does it put the start menu link? I can’t find it
I also can’t get rid of it
Anyone got this working in HDX optimized mode? I have classic teams working, I added the reg key for webview2 but I cannot get it to load optimized
s
i am not even able to install it on server 2022
i did now manage to install it. It provides a log file C:\Windows\TEMP\teams* The content was after running the new installer that Teams is already provisioned. I did uninstall old client and ran new installer again and it got then installed. However they state in the docs that they can be used side by side, classic and new
m
yeah, I had it side by side but only classic would run optimized. I’m out of ideas
l
I think new teams said its not supporting server os. Mine is running optimized after adding the regkey. @Mike Streetz (O_P) what version of workspace app are you running? To get all the features, you really need the latest - i think background blurring is 2308. And you need 2203 VDA to have all the nice features as well.
m
I had the reg key set to reg_sz instead of rez_multi_sz
it’s working now

In my testing, i can get the optimization to show but a couple of weird observations: 1.) Calling from New Teams/VDI/Optimized to someone using Teams Web, they try and answer but it drops immediately ; Calling from Teams web to New Teams/VDI/Optimized, the call answers fine Calling from New Teams/VDI/Optimized to a Teams client, the call answers fine 2.) When on a call, the other user can see my camera feed fine and hear me. However on the New Teams/VDI/Optimized side, i cannot see their camera feed (black window); I see the same black window when i check Devices under settings (to test the camera)
One update on my testing, i had the 1912 cu7 workspace app (which is listed as approved i thought for this), once i updated to 2203 ltsr it seems to be working fine now
m
oh cool, yeah I was testing with 2203 and could see all my cameras but haven’t done extensive testing with different caller endpoints

I found that if you jump to the CR of workspace you get background effects options too. Hopefully screen sharing comes soon enough outside of calls
