Main goal is to achive faster boot times as the VM is stuck at "Getting Devices Ready". Windows Update has been disabled.

How are you removing them in your layers? I used a modified version of JG Spiers' app layering preparation script for each layer to finalize the layer, and never had an issue with ghost devices.

I removed them manually using a script by Nutanix. Thank you, I'll try this one!

The only thing I'd note on this is that I didn't use the same ngen.exe command that he does. After multiple discussions here, I switched to .\ngen.exe executeQueuedItems 3

that should be already included in BIS-F
Trying to figure out if there's already an option to include it in BISF

You could always incorporate the ghost device removal as part of your sealing script when the generated image is in private mode. Still, probably best to clean up the layers, too.

let's see 😁 probably gonna be fixed right now, thank you!

With app layering you always get the getting devices it has to do with how the network stsck is recreated during the build stage. are you using pvs or mcs. For mcs your master image should be booted by the mcs connector snd windows should learn about ghe boot drivers then. For pvs to make it faster you need to boot onve in private mode. Ypu couls script that process if you want to have it automated.
b
PVS in this case

Yea ghen the only fix for what you are trying to do is booting in private mode before using the image. But also hou should not have hhost nics that normally causes a blue screen
