What’s your main goal? Data, settings, or both?
j
Something that doesn't require a file share? 🍿🍿🍿🍿 @Aaron Parker wrote about a UEV and OneDrive concept a while back https://stealthpuppy.com/user-experience-virtualzation-profile-container/

Citrix UPM - although you may find the licensing a bit of a pain
Just seen the "no file share" requirement - pretty sure Ivanti is the only one that can manage that
a
This isn’t an answer to your question, but… Is the same profile everywhere really a necessity? Different form factors and OS versions may have different impacts on the user experience with the same profile everywhere. Setting the expectation of the same profile everywhere could blow up if the solution fails. My solution using UEV and OneDrive is about syncing targeted applications or profile paths only, while also relying on inbuilt sync solutions (eg Edge, M365 Apps, etc)

Yeah this is a question that needs to be answered in modern environments. Synced apps with a sprinkling of UE-V may suffice for some use cases.
d
You could achieve the same with Liquidware @James O'Regan , they can do the same as ivanti, sync to Azure storage
j
ProfileUnity can definitely achieve what you want you can check out the features here https://www.liquidware.com/products/profileunity/profileunity-advanced-features-overview
n
@James O'Regan doesn't profile unity require file shares?
j
No , it can operate on cloud storage such as azure blob or AWS S3
j
Can they be addressed as non-SMB though?
d
For what I remember YES
n
@James O'Regan - interesting, thanks
j
How do you address the storage as non-SMB then? How is the access done?
d
I can’t tell how Liquidware does it but I bet the same as we built it, so you login text a token , there’s something called a shared access signature needed and the rest follows via SSL. I bet @James O'Regan will get the info back to you after asking the team
j
So it's internal to the software? I thought you meant there was a way I could do it without tooling
My mistake
d
yeah internal, we built it years ago in Workspace Control and Liquidware offered it a few months before we delivered it.
did a quick check in the documentation and Liquidware Portability does the exact same thing as we did in IWC: Azure will create 3 items: a connection string, a SAS token, and a Blob service SAS URL. I'd advise you @newbie1998 to download Liquidware Profile Unity, then you can setup a PoC in under 10 min. and then give it a try.

@Aaron Parker thanks for your suggestion...so if i use Microsft UE-V with one drive than i wouldn't need fslogix really for physical machines, correct?
a
Correct. I would not use FSLogix with physical devices, even with Cloud Cache
n
Thanks everyone!
have an nice weekend!
