technically outlook search and windows search are the same service. did you maybe disable search in your image? that can happen with optimizers.
j
Thanks @Jack Smith for your quick answer. No it's enabled. Search is working until I enable Outlook cache...
j
when you restart the search service, does it build the outlook index?
j
Hum, sorry I am not used to this, I restarted the service but I don't find any file in %pogramdata%/Microsoft. Index is working though...
j
there is a windows indexing control panel widget, it should show outlook in there as well as things like cDrive... etc.
j
Yes Outlook is there in the "Included Locations" and the "Index location" is "C:\Program Data\Microsoft"!
j
then indexing should also be running for outlook.
you can also look in outlook here
look at the index status
j
My indexing status says "Oulook has finished... 0 items remaining..."
j
then search for outlook should be working
j
Yes it does but now if I turn the GPO for Outlook cache enabled, Outlook search will be disabled...
j
Oh i thought you had that setting on. look at these things with the setting enabled.
j
oh, ok, sorry, it's only monday and I'm already tired ๐Ÿ˜‰
j
i hear yah.
j
Hum I enabled again cahed mode, and restarted my session. At first I have the error message I didn't see before ??? "File access is denied. You do not have the permission required to access the file C:\myemailaddress(4).ost." Like there are already .ost files created. But why there ? Anything to do with my problem? If I sign-out and delete the ODFC container, I'm able to open Outlook
j
you might have a GPO that is defaulting the OST location.
j
OK I'll try this but what is the best location in the context of FSlogix then ?
j
Oh, well i'm not sure about that. sorry. normally it would just be in its normal location %localappdata%\microsoft\outlook
i dont' think there really is a need to move it somewhere else.

I leave it in the default location as well.

You can also tell FSLogix to run outlook in cache mode. I done it before.
