Planning to implement one VPX Express to LB StoreFront, but nothing major yet... from what it seems like, it's not that feature-packed, rather than just a "new 13.1 build"
always a bit cautious, especially with more complex setups on the new ones...

Running on two clients in production. No issues

Just like 13.1 was a new builld of previous, etc....
k
what features are you using in these environments?
m
The delta between 13.1 and 14.1 is so small, that the improvements in quality and performance is so huge, that you should consider upgradering
k
just wondering why did they even bother rolling up the major release number...
"we need to have a new major release every n days" seems a bit ... well
m
Because of their 3+3+1 going forward. 3 years of feature release, 3 years of maintance and 1 year where you have to move up to the next branch, if you're not on it. The timeline from 13.1 and newer fits into that, the 13.1 branch is now in 3 years of maint mode, then 1 year of EOM, before it goes EOL
k
I get that, but it's just something they've come up with and in history we've always had the feature release with tons of new stuff
ofc, now they pushed out 14.1, not 14.0
still a bit suspicious to put the initial release of new major build in to prod though
m
I understand that, but trust me when i say the delta between 13.1 newest and 14.1 is so minor. I will start to update customers to 14.1
k
I trust you... we need to reconsider our plans, originally we had the plan to move to 13.1
m
I'm going to get some experience with it for sure at customers, of course starting with the non-critical instances before taking the critical
k
in managed service I definitely prefer having as many environments in the same build... one line we need to cross is 13.0+ where the classic policies are finally deprecated and we need to get rid of those
mostly the environments are good already, but some need work... let's keep the line active and share experiences on this
