support are telling me the latest version of 13.1 firmware 13.1-45.64 which is currently running on them isnt supported on the 8200's

That's incorrect. All currently supported MPXes can run all currently supported GA firmware trains (outside of FIPS but that's not relevant here). Ask for an official statement that it's not supported or push for escalation.
