Not a fan. I wouldn't use FSLogix for physical as Cloud Cache for me has never felt stable enough or even like it was intended for long outages such as those experienced by laptops. Much rather just use a local profile and take a little sprinkling of settings to a network share in the background using some other tech
p
Yes agree. I'd prefer having something like Onedrive KFM and using local profiles. FSLogix would then still make sense for VDI/RDS.
I also wonder, why they removed this part from their docs. You can still find an old version on archive.org https://web.archive.org/web/20220907222128/https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/fslogix/cloud-cache-resiliency-availability-cncpt

Well, there was a thread yesterday suggesting Microsoft are starting to deprecate features in FSLogix....this may be another indication that this is the way they are leaning. Maybe Cloud Cache is for the chop along with Office Container...

Didn’t they redo some of the docs and added more content for Cloud Cache?
Also agree with @James Rankin, cloud cache isn’t meant for long term outage.

Ok great, thanks guys. I think the fact, that it's not meant for long term outage should also convince the customer 🙂
n
i don't think they will depreciate cloud cache, though
j
Why not? By all accounts it has never even been finished.
n
why would they? i see a lot of companies using it. what would they replace it with?
i may be wrong but we'll see
j
Because they don't want the overheads of maintaining it. Lots of companies use Office Container but they are going to kick that into the long grass
n
are they really?
j
It's going to be deprecated, it would seem
n
whoa, i haven't seen anything on that..i have to look into. if you have any articles, please send
j
It was just some speculation yesterday based on Microsoft recommending that everyone use a single container, but I can certainly feel the way the wind is blowing.....
n
great, i just set up two clients with office containers....where did they recommend one container? do you have a link?
personally I wouldn't fret too much, it should still work for a while yet
n
i won't...let's see what happens. thanks for the heads up. i learn so much here on this channel.
