@Tim: 6 hours ago Dan Pillsbury (having gone through most of the PPI Course as I have) writes about his challenging experience with UPC codes, and asks questions about GS1 and barcodes. He mentions an extra hundreds of dollars. I look forward to the responses. This is what he posted: "Brett Bartlett Hi everybody, I’ll be going to the PPI Workshop in LA in February. I’ve never sold anything but books on Amazon before, and not much of those. In preparation, I’ve watched about 70% of the PPI home course videos so far. I attempted my first listing of a bundle the other day, and ran into some problems. Can you help me? 1) In Video 16, “Brand Name Bundles,” Brett mentions a bundle of Starbucks Sumatra K-Cups and reusable K-cups. He challenges the viewer to try it out, so I tried – but when I checked the Amazon Seller App, it said all Starbucks K-Cups are Restricted. Does this mean that selling the Starbucks K-Cups is Restricted in all cases (by themselves or in bundles) – or is this why we use a bundle, to get around the Restriction? Note – I didn’t see any bundles with Starbucks K-Cups with reusable K-Cups (though maybe I didn’t dig deep enough in the results). ---------- 2) Instead, I bought a toy to sell with an Easter Egg dying kit as a bundle. A friend who just started selling on Amazon and has a list of UPC codes helped me with the listing. However, when we tried to list it, we got an Error code that said something like this: “The UPC code, ASIN, or blah-blah is not recognized by Amazon. If you think you have received this message by mistake, please contact Customer Support.” We contacted customer support, and the Amazon rep said that the UPC code had to be registered with a site called GS1. https://www.gs1us.org/ The rep said it was free, but the only options on the GS1 site we saw wanted to charge hundreds of dollars to register even a few UPC codes (and mandated you buy barcodes, too). Rather than pay a lot of money, we tried several UPC codes on my friend’s list, but always got the same error. I thought that the problem might be tied to the maker of the toy. (By the way, the toy itself appears by itself in another listing and is unrestricted.) Nickelodeon is the brand name, then there’s the cartoon company that makes the show, then a distributor. We tried switching out the brand names to the lesser-known cartoon company, but we still got the same error message. A) Has anybody seen an error like this before? B) Did my friend just get bad UPC codes? (What was odd was that she used the previous three UPC’s in her list to list other products without any problems. And the list came with a certificate.) C) Do you have to use GS1 to register UPC codes? If so, is there a free way to do it? Thanks for any help you can give me. This has been enormously frustrating for a first-time experience."

@Tim: Feli D'Atena from MySilentTeam group wrote this on Thursday (two days ago): 😬 "One of the brands I have sold for over 2 years became restricted yesterday. All my listings from that brand became inactive. I still have approx. 400 units at the FCs and would like to sell them on eBay. Does anybody know if using Multi-Channel Fulfillment for inactive (available) inventory is against Amazon rules? I asked seller support, the agent told me it is not possible. When I told him I was able to create fulfillment orders for my inactive inventory he said according to his experience it was not possible, but did not clearly state that is against the rules. Has anybody had to deal with this issue?"

That's why you are temporarily suspended. I'd contact Customer Service, tell them what the email said, and what you said above, and ask them how to proceed."

@Tim: ☎️📝 Lisa Morrison Larson's (MySilentTeam) sample wholesale letter: "Sample Wholesale Request Letter: ********************** Many of you have asked, so here is what I write when I ask to open a wholesale account. First, I find out who the manufacturer is. An example is Sharpie Pens (Virtually impossible to make money on Sharpie as Amazon sells them, but this is a good example) . They are made by Rubbermaid. Rubbermaid won't open an account with someone as small as I am, but they did refer me to one of their distributors that work with smaller businesses. Here is an example of the letter I sent to that distributor. ******************************** To Whom It May Concern, I am interested in opening up a wholesale account with your company. Can you please send me your MOQ (minimum order quantity), your case lot price break down, and what your shipping costs are? I can send you my business information, my EIN and any other information that you require. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Lisa Larson (Business Name Here) ******************************** I hope this helps."
