Hi Team, RE: Liveboard consisting of multiple answers from multiple sources. Does it not filter answers based on the model access? For eg: Liveboard A has answer from model A and model B. The user is in permission group where they have access to model A only. Confirmed: The sources in Spotter and SearchEmbed shows Model A only as source. But when a user visits the Liveboard A, shouldn't the answers from model B hidden from them?

Hi @Suvash : Users will be able to view answers generated from a different model, even if they don’t have direct access to that model. However, they will not be permitted to query or make any edits to the corresponding Liveboard.

Thanks @Sandeep Yadav , is there a reason, its not hidden to the users if they don't have direct access to the model?
hi @Sandeep Yadav also, to continue on this, when we have liveboards from different models, a user might have certain actions available based on their permission as editor or viewer. editor in model A and viewer in model B. Is there an easy way to update the visible actions via SDK based on what liveboard they have clicked on? currently, we are exploring RouteChange to caputre the id, grab the model name, the compute the actions based on what model they belong to. this requires some complex logics with FullAppEmbed in home page as you can imagine. also, since there are different route change events within the embed. Wondering, if there is another simpler way to do this.

hey @Suvash, I did get like you trying to manually hide few actions in liveboard based on the models used / model permissions for user. There is not any particular flow which would help you do it better. But one thing is good - you don't have to worry about the user be able to edit and perform action on any viz - if he doesn't have access to model from which that viz is made. that is automatic - so, you just have to think about what actions you have to show - rest blocked based on the permissions automatically. Thanks.

yeah, thats what we are doing. but the thing is SDK doesn't have any easy way to update the action so we are destroying the embed and rebuilding it with available actions for that particular permission group only. we don't want to show the actions to non-permission group they are not available to, even if it is displayed as disabled. so I am guessing, there is no easier way to update the visible actions right. thanks

oh I see - you can try with - This is internal event we use - please use this But it might not be totally stable. embed.viewConfig = { ...embed.viewConfig, visibleActions: [Action.Download, Action.Share], }; // 2. Trigger UpdateEmbedParams — the TS app picks up the new config embed.trigger(HostEvent.UpdateEmbedParams, embed.viewConfig); Currently there isn't a way to actually update visibleActions directly public api. you can raise a feature request for this one.
s
oh, that looks interesting. thank you
is a feature request = Submitting New Idea

Yeah. I think on the thoughtspot from where you raise ticket you can do feature request too.
