Hey Guys. What are the most important personality traits an HR should have as per you and what should be the career path for HR position wise in an organization!

For me, empathy and highly amiable energy stand on top as personality traits. Career path - Tough to answer precisely without much context about the size of your team. If it's a team of 1 or 2 people, it might be relevant to look at the scope of growth with a more horizontal expansion perspective i.e. learning to balance operational and strategic projects. In growing teams or large teams, vertical growth might look like moving up the ladder picking up exclusive areas of expertise (sub functions). If you're the founding HR member in the team then moving up the ladder by taking up more strategic/business partner responsibilities while sharing ops/execution with new members who can join your team to support you. Looking forward to learn from what others have to say.

Very tough question, Osheen. 1. The traits would differ based on role - traits for someone in TA could be way different from someone in C&B (A lot is said about HR people needing to be empathetic, but I think that should be a default trait, irrespective of role) 2. Career paths depend on multiple factors. Some companies allow people to cross-skill and move. Larger companies, sometimes don't. For example, Accenture has 5000+ HR folks in India (I think). So their levels of specialization would be massive - like in TA, you would have people only doing sourcing, or candidate experience/management, or staffing calculations, or data processing
