It has been observed that frequent virtual meetings are draining and tiring for employees and have led to lower participation. You can inspect and change a few things to increase the overall participation.
• Start with an anonymous pulse survey to get insights and act upon them.
• Townhalls should be interactive. Start the first few minutes of the meeting sharing important org-level metrics and balance the rest with retrospective/something fun. If the information shared during townhall is interesting, people will be willing to join.
• Day and Time of meeting - Mondays are busy getting everything organized and employees want to get off work early on Fridays. Midweek will be best for org-wide meetings.
• If employees have too many meetings on their calendar, they will naturally deprioritize townhalls to either get work done or just to take a break. Having a No-Meetings day in the week helps employees to be productive and frees up their time for important meetings.
• Make RSVP non-negotiable(They are free to accept or decline). This will help the organizer/host take note of employees who are unavailable repeatedly and get feedback from them.
