Hey @Kartik Mandaville & @Rohan Mankad
• No we don't do laptop buybacks - as it's. tedious process from multiple stand-points - Taxation, Asset accounting in the books, Deciding a fair price - would always become a conflict & have experienced this in the past & have come across disgruntlement so best is to avoid it.
• @Rohan Mankad - When you say Employee buying the laptop - are you referring here to BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)? - i.e company never owns that asset - It's feasible if you have top notch Security & Data Privacy Practices in place.. many company's do this.. I.e they pay post employee has purchased the laptop - A certain amount which is decided as per grade & they then put a depreciation element - In 1 of my previous Org we had this option - wherein eg - Company was paying upto 50k for laptop & if the employee leaves in the 1st year itself then full amount was recoverable if the employees leaves after 2 years then 50% recoverable - after 3 years - no recovery. Incase the employee already has laptop then it used to go other way around .
