Hello All,
What usually happens in an appraisal process when it comes to an employee who is on a maternity leave. As they can’t be a part of an appraisal discussion or self-rate them and etc..,, how will their salary raise or hike calculated?

@Robert Jackson in case of employees on Maternity Leave, their appraisal will be prorated for the period that they have worked during the appraisal cycle. The manager will share his/her review feedback based on the parameters and increase will be again prorated for the said period.

Some companies also offer rating protection - that someone on a maternity break will not get a rating below say - meets expectations.

if we change the rating again then speak with the finance team if they are ready to pay the new revised salary budget and/or pay the balance amount for the previous months. OR let the employee who is on maternity leave complete the self-rating and attend the meeting over Zoom so that she benefits on time. Also, if they have worked for less than 6 months then you can go with needs improvement, and beyond 6 months you can go with meets expectations
