Depends on Industry.
The legal working age in India prohibits the employment of children below the age of 14 in any form of work, which is considered a punishable offense. This offense can lead to a maximum jail term of 2 years. However, there are some exceptions where children under 14 may be engaged in certain family-based work.
Additionally, adolescents, defined as individuals between the ages of 14 and 18, are not allowed to work in hazardous occupations. The Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Amendment Bill of 2012 also imposes penalties on parents who employ underage children.
