Hi TSOW members, Its already overwhelming to see this big HR community 👏👏 I wish to seek help in solving below key problems that we are facing as a growing SaaS startup. Currently we are expanding in US, UK and other geographies, however, below are the queries :- 1. For international employees, we are unaware about the regional compliances and mandates around annual leave policies 2. How to compensate Indian employees, working in US/UK/Australia shift (Verticals like Tech and Sales) Would be great to get view point of HRs who have already cracked international markets.

Hi @Amerendra Kumar the EU region has strict rules when it comes to leaves in principal most of the follow the same, which can differ based on few locations and company policies internally, but the basic entitlement will remain the same. https://ec.europa.eu/eures/main.jsp?catId=8445
In UK the paid leave entitlement is 28 days
you can refer to the relevant country government sites for details of leaves.
Secondly when you are working on compensation structure for countries in EU there is something called a 13th month pay which is mandatory in most of the EU countries, which is nothing but an additional month of salary paid out in December in lay mans terms simply can call it as bonus. IN few countries like Luxembourg you have a 14th month pay as well if i am not wrong (Please check with the concerned Govt site on it ). https://www.cxcglobal.com/blog/global-payroll/13th-month-pay/
Also note that the 13th Month pay is mandatory to be paid to international workers as well, just in case you are planning to send someone initially from Inida to the region on long term visa or secondment. hope this helps.

@Amerendra Kumar there are companies like Safeguard Global which can help you with all the compliances and rules and regulations of multiple companies across the globe. They also support in case you do not want to open an office and want to hire people on their payroll. @Karthik Ingarsal thank you for such great info, I also want to check in case you have some idea around it, is this applicable to contractors as well hired at different locations across the globe? We recently hired a few folks on contract..wanted to check..

Hi @Aditi Mittal we mostly hired for FTE roles in the EU & South American regions, one thing that I observed especially in EU is the labour laws are mostly common and do not differentiate between FTE & contractors exception always there depending on the nature of the profile and Roles. Would Suggest you to look at country specific laws applicable to contractors for details info.
