Hello Everyone, You as an HR Professional might have come across one common problem of groupism among the team members in your company. Some form their closed group and never allow any outsider into their group. Be in terms of lunch, tea breaks or if they approach this group related to work. They avoid, ignore, or react differently towards other employee outside of their group. This ultimately impact on the work, deadlines and culture as a whole. Can anyone suggest a remedy or a hard core solution to terminate this and build a healthy work culture where everyone can enjoy and help each other.

1. Team building activities is a good start 2. Cross functional discussions and ice breakers sessions When we faced this issue, we hosted Questt Championships - A week of fun activities The idea was to form 4 teams and the team members would be the ones who least interacted with each other Activities gave rise to team bonding, collaboration and getting to know each member and mainly competing against others as one strong, united Team This proved as a major boost to morale and upliftment of spirits and more interaction and involvement amongst peers

@Vishwa Badiani The basic one was designing a logo + name + slogan for your team Helped with team collaboration and ideating together We also had a TT tournament, Know your Company, Know your Colleagues, Best out of Waste, PS4 games, Gol Gappa eating etc etc We ensured that the participants did not repeat, so all members got a chance to participate in an event

Thank you, @Shantanu Karnik @Vishwa Badiani this can help. But any specific activity you know which brings 100% result in eliminating groupism totally?

You can play team building games where you can randomly team up people where they need to compete against other teams to win, it helps bonding. We had conducted games like Human Knot, Blind Drawing etc and they had lot of fun

Hi @Nirav Shah - According to me - build cross functional teams which would consists people within and outside the group as well. Rate them on the outcomes / achievement of the task.
Provide continous feedback of how certains behaviours are enabling and constraining achievement of goals.
Reward the right behaviours by recognizing the members and provide feedback on improving inappropriate or constraining behaviours
Do this for an extended period at regular intervals. This definitely works.
Feel free to reach out - in case you require any help.
