Hi, What is the maximum working hours as per labour laws in Haryana for an IT company?

There is no time limit for companies registered under S&E that employ skilled/executive employees.

As per the Act, Subject to the provisions of this Act, no person shall be employed about the business of an establishment for more than nine hours in any one day or forty-eight hours in a week. During seasonal or exceptional pressure of work, an employee may be allowed to work for more hours than the working hours specified above.

@Wristy the seasonal and exceptional clause is applicable to overtime work and not regular working hours The entire provision reads • During seasonal or exceptional pressure of work, an employee may be allowed to work for more hours than the working hours specified above. However, the total number of overtime hours worked by any employee should not exceed fifty in a quarter. Additionally, for the overtime working hours, he or she should be paid remuneration at twice the rate of his normal wages calculated by the hour.

Taking advantage of this, most companies have a clause in their employee agreements stating something along the lines of - _The Company reserves the right, with prior written notice, to reasonably alter your normal hours of work, on a temporary or permanent basis, for commercial reasons; o_ne of the reasons why most people work more than their assigned hours.
