Hey guys, for employees working on a non working day do companies pay 0.5 extra salary with that day salary or 1.5day extra. Asking for a startup

You have 48 hours per week anything over it is overtime that's twice the salary per day. For per day you calculate monthly/30 for any month this as per s&e act Karnataka

Hey @Osheen Mahant We provide employees (other than Office Assistants or similar) with a comp day if they work more than 4 hours on a weekend or a public holiday, as well as to-and-fro transportation and food reimbursement. We pay twice the daily wage for Office Assistant or similar positions, i.e. monthly salary/26.

Can you help me with the Overtime policy for Maharastra?

For startups I doubt we can do this. If employee is asking for salary it means he/she is not fit for startup. Until and unless the company is counting the leaves in any of the situation its time to sit and work on the company culture. In our company we usually give them comp-off.
r
Respectfully I disagree to this Neha, yes startup asks odd hours but then every employee is entitled to a salary we cannot deem them unfit just for asking the salary. Culture is not something we can sit and work it is about building it together, employee will give you their time only if they are treated fairly. Moreover from law perspective you still have to provision OT.
n
Yes Rohan, and thats why it depends on the startup stage and the internal understanding. In start up so many time employee take half day off or so which company don't count as time-off cause they know the people work extra as well. Mostly people join start up for the salary, interesting work and flexible work timing. So in the end everything comes to mutual understanding. And if we want the process then the Startup must be well funded and counts the half day off as well.
r
Yes, if employees are working extra then there is no need to count the half day off right? that is flexible timings. What I am saying is that company/startup while asking the employees to work over their usual time flexible or not flexible should not then bring in the factor that no we provide you flexible work hours - that is benefit to all employees irrespective of OT. It is employees choice if they want to take a half day or finish half day's work in later hour. My entire point is that extra time or OT bonuses should be independent of flexible work hours or any other benefits that the company/startup offers - that is building the culture.
n
well, Rohan that is the point. Start up hire a person with a clear AOR that is no where related to the time, so the point of OT etc entirely depends on the management and the type of company.
r
OT is a part of compliance under S&E act while the rules of OT differs from state to state, it is not on Management to give/not give IF you are registered in the S&E act
n
Actually I realised, I would say it these policies entirely depends on the company, in which sector they are dealing and what type of work they have.
