Hello, If we are putting an employee on PIP once it ends and the target is not achieved, will the employee serve the notice period or employer can take action and do the immediate termination.
PIP and notice period should be two different things or it can be considered as the same.

It is dependent on the written communication you sent to the employee regarding PIP. I am delighted to speak with you directly about it.

Ideally if it is negative outcome of a PIP we do not ask employees to serve a notice period. It is not fair on the employer end also to expect employee to serve notice knowing he/she won't have a job, needless to say performance will definitely impacted. Ideally you have LWD on the end of PIP and pay the employee in lieu of a notice period, this way they can focus and take a break without having a fear of serving notice

Also think from a culture perspective, PIP is a last resort because performance was poor, so will it worth keeping employee within the office for 1 or 2 months duration?

Make sense, thanks @Rohan Mankad

Yes, PIP is the final step to see if the employee can perform well or not and then if still not performing well then they can be asked to leave..We usually communicate the same initially itself that if the performance doesn't improve then the employee is asked to leave

You can look at the guidelines mentioned in the offer letter for the termination. So that you are binded by law
