Hi Folks, Need your advice - The most senior position at our company of Financial Manager who was hired after a 2-month recruitment cycle has resigned after only 20 days. He claims that his interest lies in Indian accounting and not US accounting, which was not communicated at any point during the recruitment process. This has resulted in a significant loss of time and resources for the company. He had committed for this role. How can we handle this? Should we ask him for his replacement before accepting resignation?

@Hiral Bhatt, it probably won't be worthwhile to do that. I think the best course is to cut your losses and look for a replacement. Of course, you can ask him as a goodwill gesture to suggest a couple of replacements who you can interview.

Hey, @Hiral Bhatt as @Sumit Singla already said that it isn't worthwhile to do this act. But you can take a lesson from this & use this in your next hiring. You have to share the KRAs the employee will perform to minimize this kind of loss in future.

The KRAs were very clear in JD and he wanted to do that. He just changed his statement now. I really wish there was some magic we could do to find a replacement immediately but you are right @Sumit Singla & @Harender Bisht. I'm taking deep breaths and trying to accept. Thank you :)

Second to both @Harender Bisht and @Sumit Singla culturally as well it won't be right knowing he wants to leave he will not provide any value addition to the role best is to cut the ties

Agreed with @Rohan Mankad. Facing this kind of situation always hurts but being an HR we have to cope with this and move forward. All the best for your new search.

Hey @Hiral Bhatt, I don't think asking him would work, he is not interested or committed to your company. This is why succession planning is the most crucial factor in companies nowadays. Are you sure no one from your company can take this position? Also, cultural fit assessment BEFORE hiring someone is mandatory from what I read in this channel. We offer these analytics, I can walk you through them if you want and maybe try to go around the sales department and ask for a pilot if you want to test the results you can have (usually we offer pilots only to very large companies).

Should we have to release his salary for these 25 days ?
s
@Hiral Bhatt I'd say yes. Their conduct is far from ideal, but as a company of professionals, yours needs to be better.
