Hi Brian, While it’s not possible for record views to appear in a dropdown menu, you could get a similar effect with a few different features: • Inline filters and filtering by the status • Duplicating layouts to create multiple navigation items for each status

Got it. I am familiar with those features. Any plans to add a drop-down feature to hold views?
e
@ripe-book-6760 No immediate plans for this right now, but I would be happy to hear more about why you would find this better than the methods we have now. Could you explain your use case in a bit more detail, pretty please?

Sure thing! Most of my experience is with legacy CRM tools like ACT, and stuff built on SQL. It was common to have dozens of views set up to create segmented lists. Most of these were dynamic views using conditional logic. For example, there may be various views for direct mail marketing: ex: Mailing Address is not empty and state is New York. There would be multiple views for email marketing. Views for birthday reminders. Views for "must clean" etc. For advanced segmentation, it's not uncommon to have dozens of views set up. These views could be categorized and tucked away on a drop down or collapsing menu. One way to achieve something like this in Stacker would be to have layout sections that collapse. Does this make sense?

Do you by any chance have a screenshot or an example of a tool that does this today? I realize this is a lot to ask, but it would help me share your thoughts with the product team
Thank you!

I'd be happy to talk to the product team directly if you think that would be helpful.

Thanks for the offer! Right now most of the team is on vacation, but I’ll follow up once they come back

Brian's idea actually could be helpful for different screen sizes. Giving the option to convert all or a portion of the layouts side bar, would essentially give the same effect of a views drop down. It would just be a drop down to switch between different layouts.

Yes! Ideally a user would be able to pin common views to the top and then create collapsable categories of views below. Maybe this is accomplished through view folders. It opens up some very interesting possibilities. For example, you could set permissions at the folder level rather than the individual view level as you can now. I'm surprised this hasn't come up more in these chats. This functionality would be a game changer for me.

Thanks for sharing! Just to be clear, permissions in Stacker are set on a table level, not on a view level. You can use filters on a view, but not permissions.
