Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as it should be...

@most-plastic-86160 No need to apologize, we’re here to help. 🙂 If you would like us to take a look at your specific situation, you can contact us through the support widget within the app. Speaking broadly, you could use the Created By feature to automatically attach the user to the document. Having said that, the user would need read/update access to the users table in order for the Created By field to work. This doesn’t mean the customer can easily access the customers page, or that they can see everyone’s records. You can use permissions to make sure the company can see only their own records.

Thanks @elegant-eve-85294 So we don’t have a users table so maybe I need to change that. Currently, they login by the email of their company but I guess it would make more sense to have a separate users table. I’m assuming this would also help in the instance one company has multiple users?

I would indeed recommend having your users in one separate table when possible, and then linking to those users from other tables when needed.

Yeah, one of those things that makes more sense as I think about it. Haha.

Here’s a question. So I added the “Created By” field for my documents. Currently, users login by email that’s associated with a company. So I’m logged in the company “Vandalay Industries” but when I create a new document, the Created By is me, Nick Richards. Even though I’m not associated with that company in anyway. So the question is, if I add the users table and they login with that email, will it still show up as me creating the documents?
And also, if it does indeed have a “created by” for the right person, will it be linked to the company? Can I add a lookup?
Disregard, I see what you’re saying now. It’s working
Thanks @elegant-eve-85294!
