Possibly a third join table (links to user, links to group). When you create a record, use the “created by” field for the user to auto populate
a
yeah, right idea - my version of this was creating a banner that pushes to a “join group form,” which pre-fills the group name and user name, and then use some automations to put the user into the group members column. Feels a bit convoluted, but could work. I’m worried that the Stacker syncing delays will make this one less successful.

Honestly, for this kind of things Stacker isn’t great and there is no simple workflow. I’m thinking of building my own UI, and inject it through an iframe, to achieve a behavior that makes sense on the UX, without latency.

Came up with my solution, will be building this weekend. Going to do a ‘new member application’ experience, where the group admin gets to review/approve each new member application. Gives me a an easy trigger to base automated emails from, and in that email I can say something like “member status may take up to 15m to reflect” or even delay the email by 15m to ensure that they only see it once stacker has likely refreshed if I want to use AT automations to move the member to the linked record. Could also just surface the full membership list to the admin in the application review and say “if approved, add to list” but that feels like it’ll get old quickly. Anywho - would love for the Stacker folks to note this UX challenge! We’re building Verbate, a B2B platform that helps companies manage their employee resource groups. They love what we’ve built on Stacker, so these types of group-based builds would be awesome!

@able-island-14078 I recommend using Zapier for the 15mn delay, it’s not doable with an Airtable automation. (AFAIK) @gorgeous-queen-48490 ☝️ 🙂

@sticky-night-20812 Yep, have run into this with other things as well. Use Airtable just to run a webhook and pass everything into Integromat. Manage all the complex stuff there.

You don’t even use to run a webhook from Airtable, I simply have a Zapier/Integromat integration. But maybe your use case was more advanced.
